Could you check serial numbers on the orders? Well could be a typo but serial numbers could be the answer.
Thesr latest posts have really become interesting reading. They are true history.

I have corresponded from time to time with this group about my father John R.
Helms. I have done a good deal of research and my father always told me he
started as a co-pilot and ended up a pilot in Molesworth during WWII. I think I
have found why I could never see any of his missions as a pilot.
Again, my father was John R. Helms and there are a number of missions recorded
for him both with the crew he was assigned and as an combat experienced
co-pilot. I found that he was the only John Helms listed on the base roster,
but a John E. Helms appeared on some of the missions as a pilot durning the time
that he was in England. I now think that the John E. Helms should really have
been John R. Helms. The E and R key are next to each other on the typewriter
(computer) keyboard and I now think this is a clerical error where when these
reports were typed, the E key was mistakenly keyed as opposed to the R key which
would have been correct. I have even been in contact with a gentleman wh
o said
he was a bombadier on some of the missions on which my father was the pilot. I
am now convinced that he flew on missions from Mission No. 180 to Mission 290
some of which as a co-pilot and some as a pilot.
I hope that someone will comment on the possibility of my theory.

rs. Newell:
Much as Joel said - My father, John Twomey, flew on the following missions,
although your father was not onboard the same plane.

Mrs. Newell,
My father-in-law, Kirkland T. Price was on these missions with your father,
only with a different crew. You can read about these missions by clicking

My father. Lt. Richard M. Newell of the 360th, went on these missions at the
end of WWII. Does anyone remember anything about
these missions, or have
relatives who were on these missions and related anything to them, that they
could tell me?
