[303rd-Talk] Dispatch Motorcycle Riders

I do not have any info as to dispatch riders out of Molesworth but the
following may be part of the answer to the question of transport of
documents, etc. to higher HQ. The group CO had a Piper Cub liaison aircraft
at his disposal. He knew of my father's interest in flying and let him fly
the airplane (with one of the qualified pilots) on occasion. My father once
related that some important paperwork had to go up the line to HQ and he
went along with a pilot to deliver same. They flew in the cub, in what he
said was awful weather with near 0 visibility, two pair of eyes watching for
trees, power lines and basically following roads. He said it was a very
exciting flight. I would assume that this air delivery method was used, at
least for important material, on other occasions as well.

See the note below. I don't think I have ever heard of Dispatch Motorcycle
Riders at Molesworth.
I guess the question is, "How did the classified information like photos and
debriefing reports get from Molesworth to 8th AF Bomber Command at High
Wycombe?"

Any help is appreciated:
Gary

Hello

I am very interested in the DR - Dispatch Motorcycles Riders work during
WWII. The 303rd site is the best I have found as it appears to be so
complete, as it gives credit to the ground crews as well as air crews.
So often the ground crew are nameless faces.

I was very interested to see that you have a group photo of the S2 Unit with
all their names except one man. I have been trying to find evidence of the
S2 unit at Chelveston - 305th Heavy Bombardment Group without success. I am
always being told they were part of another unit but the Memorial in
Chelveston clearly states there was an S2 Intelligence Unit there during
WWII.

Am I right in supposing the at DR would have taken all the debriefing
reports and photographs produced by the S2 Unit to HQ?

Thanking you in anticipation of your answer.
