Thank you for the news even if it brings sadness.  I also met Bob at the
Savannah reunion and enjoyed seeing his famous chunk of flak, the one that
barely missed on one of the raids he flew.  

By chance, I had opened his book, 'Last Raid', just this morning as I have kept
it on my nightstand.  It is a fine account of the duties and responsibilities
of a B17 bombardier, which I appreciate because my father had the same
responsibilities in the Monahan/Joy crews. Captain Hand's artistry and humor
added a fine touch to events for which no photographs exist.

I join everyone in a salute to a fine, courageous gentleman.
