Don't forget the Imperial war museum at RAF Duxford, its worth the visit. john

Inside of this hangar, there is a hole in the roof and a big dent in the floor from where, I think, an RAF bomber on a practice mission to The Wash, dropped mistakenly on Molesworth. I want to say that was Christmas Eve of 44, but not entirely sure. Someone on here should know the exact date.
Also, The Fox Pub just south of the base and the east west motorway is still there and I was told by some of our British Friends of the Eighth it was frequented by our boys during the war.
I know your interest is with the 303rd, but there are several other bases in close proximity to Molesworth that are worth taking a look see. Bassingbourn is SSW of Cambridge and has a great Tower Museum. Alconbury, the last I heard, was being turned into a Lorry Park and the Tower is still there. Grafton Underwood, Chelveston, Polebrook and King's Cliff all have memorials and buildings remaining. Don't know how much time you will have, but Bassingbourn is well worth the visit.

Thomas Barr wrote: I was back their several years ago and I remembered the church near the base
that was visable from where my B-17 was parked and the low clouds (typical
weather), plus the train station. Can't remember if the one big hanger was
still standing. It had been a cruise missile base, but was a NATO
intelligence center then as I remember. Tom Barr
