Hey, you guys and gals!
 
Maybe you can help me.  My father, Lt. Richard M. Newell of the 360th, once told me that he would 'volunteer' for some missions.  He was credited with 35 or 36 missions from Nov. 16, 1944 to Mar. 1, 1945.  I was just wondering how much 'volunteering for missions' was done, and if the soldiers were ever credited for the missions for which they volunteered?  Thank you.
