Hi All,

I am new to this mailing list and joined at the suggestion of Gary. Thanks Gary for the invitation.

I am Jim Henry and I am currently writing a fictional book about a B-17G crew that is trying to evade capture after being shot down over Germany. A little about me, I hold a BA in History and served for 12 years as an

infantry officer in the Regular Army on active duty. I have also lived in Europe for 6 years.

When I began to write I came up with a lot of questions as I am trying to maintain historical accuracy that I am unable to answer through standard research. Some of these questions are:

* If you had to bail out, in the Spring of 1944, would you be were wearing either an F2 or F3 flight uniform?

* How would this uniform hold up on the ground?

* Did the entire crew wear the same uniform?

* Could you walk in it very far or would you have to change out of it if you had to travel a long way?

* How well would your boots have held up?

* What other provisions would you bail out with; a first aid kit, rations, weapons?

* Did you ever get any survival training or have discussions on escape and evasion?

* Would you know where to go?

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
