Gentlemen:
Do you remember where you were on Dec. 7, 1941? I was at the Polo Grounds watching the game between the zN.Y. Giants and the
Brooklyn Dodgers, The place was packed. During halftime the loud speaking system kept calling out the names of the VIPs telling them to report back to Washington , immediately. Then the rumors started flowing through the crowd Hawaaii was bombed. The Japanese are attacking California. I took my test for the Aviation cadets on Lincoln's Birthday. I passed the test and received a verbal OK from the Army but did not get sworn in so- the draft board made me take the physical so I was in limbo until April 4, 1942 w hen the Army signed me up as a pvt. $16 per month.
