I flew a mission or two with the 30-3rd. I was a navigator. That's the guy iwith the brains on the aircraft. My last correction I gave to the piThe pilot makes a correction , and tells the Bombaimer lot should have put the plane on course. The pilot gives the plane to the Bombaimer who engages the sight. Then the pilot can go out and get a cup of coffee Becajse anycorrection he makes at that stage will screw up the Bombaimer. I used to get into arguments with the pilots in Bomb. SchoolThey were supposed to turn over the a/c at 150 mph, so they would give it to them at140 Instgead of letting the sight do the work they would increase the speed to 150 which is contrary to what the sight is doing. Unfortunately all the bombardiers that I flew with were no Bill Hoovers. The lateest newslettter of the Air Rescue Association contained a story about my forty something bomb run. I was the bombardier and dropped blood plasma on the deck of a swedish Freighter 1000 miles out of Bermuda at night. Thank you all for yout interest in what we did 60 years ago. Love to all HAL Sussskind
