I'll check with my Grandfather, both he and his brother were Flight Engineers while my Grandfather remained stateside (due to scheduling and such) his older brother flew 35 missions w/ the 303rd.  I'll let you know when I find out.

Hi all,

A query from down under.

I am doing some research on top turret gunners / flight engineers during
WW2, and am wondering if due to the duration of their various training
courses (recruit training, gunnery training, flight engineer training
etc) in the US if they would more than likely have qualified for the
American Campaign Medal?
(I understand that you had to serve for 12 months in the States to
qualify for this medal if you didn't satisfy one of the other qualifying
conditions)

Best wishes,

Phil Blackwell
