[303rd-Talk] WWII Planes

Leslie,
The P-47 Thunderbolt, the P-51 Mustang and the P-38 Lightning were fighters
that escorted the B-17 and B-24's on missions to fend off Luftwaffe - German
fighters - so the bombers had a better chance of survival. The P-47 and
P-38's didn't have the distance to make it deep into Germany early in the
war, but when the P-51 entered in 1944 could, with drop fuel tanks.

Only the Best!

Subject: [303rd-Talk] WWII Planes

I read that there were planes that accompanied the B-17 and other planes on
their missions. Could someone tell me what those planes were, and what
their unit was? Thank you.
