FRom Harold A, Susskind. This may answer some of your questions. In the
fall of 1964 I briefed Gen. Eaker on conditions in Vietnam as he was about
to visit SVN on a fact finding mision for the Air Force Chjief of Staff.
Upon his return it began a close friendship that lasted until he died. I
know the answer to your question about his being relieved as commander of
the 8th Air Force and sent to Italy to command the Med Allied Air Force.
Some other names were also involved. If i ever decide to write a book I'll
answere the question you asked. Dances were held at Molesworth periodically
during my stay there. what happened during the dances and feasts (food was
aplenty) No wonder they were popular. The dances weren't easy on those who
had to fly a mission the next day. Some of the participants had more mouth
than brains. I never kept a diary. I did my assigned job and hope I did a
good job. HalSusskind
