My name is Jerry Monnig, my Dad, Alvin Monnig, flew on all of the missions
with 1st. Lt. John C. Griggs. Dad was the top turret gunner and engineer.
Dad also kept a diary from July 8, 1944 to November 16, 1944. I have
attached his diary in pdf format. If anyone would like it as a text
document, just let me know. The diary say's that Lt. Griggs was hit in the
leg on November 6. Also of note is the praise my dad gives to Lt. Griggs,
especially on mission #26 on October 14. Dad and Mrs. Malone presented both
of the diaries to the Air Force Academy in 1993. Dad has the name of Air
Force officer that they were presented to if it helps anyone locate the
documents. He also has a copy of Lt. Griggs' diary which I will transcribe
if needed.

Dad is 84 now, in fair health and reads the newsletter religiously. He does
not use a computer, but I print out a lot of the emails I receive and he
loves to read them. If he can help answer any questions, I will be happy to
give them to him and forward his reply.

Best Regards

Jerry Monnig
