Gang,
See here:

This is the Nazi flag Hal Gunn described as being
replaced by an American one in his account of the liberation of
Stalag 7A on 29 April 1945 here.

The flag is at the Mighty Eighth AF Museum in Pooler, Georgia. Susan
and I visited there last week. It was recently obtained from the
family of Angelo Petix, a 303rd POW at Moosburg. Some of the 15,000
men at Moosburg signed the flag. Only three 303rd names are there --
Petix and two others, who are now deceased. Petix is in a nursing
home.

I have more photos and a complete list of names being sent to me. I
will add this photo to the website soon. Over the years I have had a
few back-room tours of museums and seen things most visitors never
see. I was awe-struck by this flag. It is the single most
impressive piece of WWII memorabilia I have ever seen. It is not yet
on display in the museum.

Cheers,
Gary
