i beg to differ, i was in a deferred job in private defense involved
business. i decided i wanted to get in aviation cadet program. i went to u s navy
norfolk. took test needed to enter. they turned me and friend down, we
promptly went to langley field ,took tests. passed and were accepted subject to our
getting out of our defense job's deferral. we both returned to our big big
big defense contractor and told them we wanted out of our deferral to enter.
they were reluctant as they got a 10% bonus on each of our paychecks and needed
our already trained talents.. we were then sent to richmond,va. where a
complete ,i mean complete from head to toe physical exam was done before we were
finally accepted. a month later i got orders to report to langley prepared to
go to basic training. spent night in civilian clothes in their barracks. was
aroused 5"00 a.m and fell out to do phys ed on lawn. then by rail to
greensboro,n.c. BTC !). the rest is history and i am so pleased god allowed me to
have the experience and fortunate to have arrived in u k , after truly
baaaaddd intense air war injuries in earlier times. very thoughtful always of my
crew and others before and after that did not live and those injured and those
now lamed and struggling to exist. thanks good god.
