OK folks, I guess I shouldn't tell my son everything I write, after my last input he insisted I tell you about my 303rd project.
I am a bit of a flight simulation nut. a few months ago a friend asked me to repaint a B-17 as one of the 100th BG's aircraft.
I'll explain this a bit as some of you will be unaware of what I am talking about. Microsoft sells a flight simulator program that runs on a home computer, the last version FS9 is very detailed and you can add almost any kind of aircraft or scenery to it to make it more realistic. As you would imagine this can almost get out of hand with staggering results. Some of these add-ons are free others you have to buy from aftermarket developers. One of these developers.. shockwave, produces some extremely well made and detailed aircraft in the base package for the B-17 Knockout Dropper comes as one of the aircraft.
Since doing so I decided to go a bit further and start doing all of the 303rd aircraft. These "repaints" are offered free of charge, some of us ( a lot of us) in the community do it just for the love of the hobby. so my latest contribution is located on one of my websites.
There are some screenshots of the aircraft if anyone is interested in looking at them. My son and I did a bit of formation flying this evening so I could take pictures for the site. Should you take a look he was in Knockout Dropper and I was in Scorchy II, my first 303rd repaint. Did I mention that these aircraft can be flown in multiplayer sessions? Some of the servers I fly on can have 30 people flying on them with live air traffic control if you so desire.
