YES! I remember!! My future wife & I ate dinner after church at my home 
& then went for a ride. The purpose was two fold-- My girl friend & my rifle 
for jack rabbits. The news came over the radio while we were in the hills 
north & west of town. --around 2 PM????????

Welding school Dec 28 to mid- March- turned 21 in January of '42. Got my draft notice while in 
Victorville, CA [arrived april 25] in June or July. About 2-3 months of $21 a month.Shipped out 
of Victorville Aug. 26--sailed Sept 26 --- Glasgow Oct. 7 --Molesworth Oct 8.

The songs that stick in my memory are Blue Birds over The White Cliffs of Dover [written by a Yank]
And Roll me over in the clover [lay me down & do it again]
