No doubt!! The most important position on a B17 Bomber crew was the Co-Pilot. His principal and probably his most important duty was to make his pilot look good. Oh the thrill that one feels when the Pilot says "Now, You may pull up the wheels.
Hold it. that is the Flap switch. Yes master, I know, But we just landed. We didn't just take off. By the way that landing you made after the 4th bounce was a lot better than than the ones you made after the first 3 bounces. Thank you Mr Co-Pilot. After 2 more years I'll let you shoot a landing Maybe.

And now to you JILL MILLER. I'm very sure that all of us will join with me in wishing you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY You Dear Sweet Girl.
I often feel gratfull to one Mr A. Hitler as he made it possible for me to get to know you in this life.
         Love,
Jack Rencher (What in the world makes you think I was a Co-Pilot?)
