I am Lt. Richard M. Newell's daughter, Leslie Jean Newell. He was ia B-17
pilot in the 360th squadron of the 303rd toward the end of the war. If
anyone could give me assistance, I would be grateful.
I have a wooden flagpole attached to a strong metal bracket on the front of
my house. I have recently taken off the flag that was on it, because it was
dirty as well as being torn from wind-damage. Can anyone in the 303rd
Association tell me if there is a way I can put the new flag on this wooden
pole...in such a way so that on those days when the flag should be lowered
to half-mast, I will be able to lower it on the pole maybe a foot, or ar
least a few inches? Thank you.

Leslie Jean Newell
                                            Hendersonville, NC
