TO ALL----
In my memory the pound was either $4.03 or $4.04 & the Egyptian 
pound was $4.05.  Since I don't trust my memory to much I checked 
the web. I typed in  "English pound exchange - 1945" -- Wikipedia 
came up with the following--had to scroll down several pages 
before I found It.
