TO ALL----
In my memory the pound was either $4.03 or $4.04 & the Egyptian
pound was $4.05. Since I don't trust my memory to much I checked
the web. I typed in "English pound exchange - 1945" -- Wikipedia
came up with the following--had to scroll down several pages
before I found It.
>From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Under continuing economic pressure, and despite months of denials that it would do so, on September 19, 1949, the government devalued the pound by 30%, from US$4.03 to US$2.80. The move prompted several other governments to devalue against the dollar too, including Australia, Denmark, Ireland, Egypt, India, Israel, New Zealand, Norway and South Africa
Do I have too much time on my hands????????????????
