I seem to recall that during our stay in England the US GI was paid in
Pounds at the $.05 or was it 4.50? US $'s to buy one  one pound. They didnot
want the GI's with too much(more than the Brits were able to have)so I had
most of mine sent home for deposits at the better US $ pay
